Frequently asked questions

In which countries is the ATA carnet valid?

The ATA carnet is valid in more than 80 countries signatory to the relevant international conventions, including most EU countries, the United Kingdom, the USA, Switzerland, Japan and others.

What is the maximum validity period?

The standard ATA carnet is valid for 12 months. For specific goods and purposes, shorter validity may apply.

What happens if the goods are not returned in time?

If the goods are not re-exported within the carnet's validity, the temporary import becomes a standard import and the corresponding duties are due. This may also trigger guarantee liability.

Can sold goods be cleared under ATA?

No — if the goods are sold abroad they must be regularized through the standard import/export regime in the destination country. Our team can advise on the transition process.
